Power Consumption Comparison

Flash Electrical has completed a power consumption comparison between an LCPR system installation and a conventional system installation. The comparison is based on stores with a cubic meterage of 30,000 m3.

Average Daily Power Usage

  • Other average daily power usage: 6,612 kW
  • LCPR system average daily power usage: 3,308 kW

Key Finding

The results show that the LCPR system uses approximately half the electricity of the conventional system. This indicates that the LCPR system is around twice as efficient in terms of power consumption.

Additional Efficiency Consideration

The LCPR system is also likely to perform even more efficiently when the additional load placed on the stores during system start-up is considered. On this basis, the overall efficiency may be at least 12% higher.

Estimated Annual Savings

Using an electricity rate of 30 cents per kW, the estimated saving is calculated from the difference between the conventional system and the LCPR system average daily power usage.

  • Daily usage difference: 3,304 kW
  • Estimated daily saving: $991.20
  • Estimated annual saving: $361,788.00

Basis for Comparison

  • Both stores were built in the same year.
  • The compressors are the same and were manufactured by the same company.
  • The better-performing store uses an LCPR system.
  • The other store uses a conventional system.
